It is shocking that #Pune Forest dept is still removing old Gliricidia forests to replace them with the heavily water intensive Miyawaki plantation at a time when the MH state govt has declared a drought in its 5th October GR. Highest priority must be given to drinking water, livestock and irrigation needs, not for Miywaki. It's also shocking that lakhs of saplings are being planted by Miyawaki method AFTER monsoon season! The photos are from 4 hectares of Forest land on a hill near NDA, Kothrud Sincere request from us at @VTBKS_Pune to halt the Miyawaki plantation till the drought is over. Alternatively they can consider a less water intensive method of plantation suitable for Pune's dry deciduous, thorny scrub聽+ grassland ecosystem 馃檹 @byadavbjp @moefcc @MahaForest @PuneForest Source: https://x.com/sushmadate/status/2108435219451982215
