Privacy Policy
Effective date: 13 October 2026 | Last updated: 13 October 2026
| Privacy at a glance Nesh is a social and local-news platform. We collect information needed to create and secure accounts, publish and distribute content, personalize the experience, provide messaging and live features, measure performance, prevent abuse, and improve Nesh. We do not sell personal data. This policy explains what we collect, why we use it, when we share it, how long we keep it, and the choices available to you. |
1. Who We Are and Scope
This Privacy Policy describes how Nesh ("Nesh", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, discloses, stores, and protects personal data when you use the Nesh mobile application, website, APIs, live-streaming features, messaging features, creator tools, and other services that link to this policy (collectively, the "Services").
Nesh is operated by Nesh, with its registered office at Banglore, India. For privacy questions or requests, contact us at contact@neshs.in.
This policy applies to users, visitors, creators, publishers, and other individuals who use or interact with the Services. It does not apply to third-party websites, apps, or services that may be linked from Nesh and that maintain their own privacy practices.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information you provide to us
Account information, such as your name, username, email address, mobile number, password or authentication credentials, profile photo, bio, language, city, and other profile details you choose to provide.
User-generated content, such as posts, articles, comments, replies, images, videos, live streams, captions, reactions, hashtags, polls, and other material you create, upload, publish, or share.
Messages and communications, including direct messages, reports, appeals, support requests, feedback, and communications you send to us or other users through Nesh. Where technically supported, the content and metadata of communications may be processed to deliver the feature, keep users safe, and comply with law.
Verification or creator information you voluntarily submit for account verification, monetization, payouts, trust and safety, or other eligible features. If a third-party provider performs verification, that provider may process information under its own privacy terms.
Payment or payout information needed for paid features, creator monetization, subscriptions, promotions, or other transactions. Payment card or banking data may be processed directly by authorized payment providers rather than stored by Nesh.
Contacts or address-book information only if a feature requests access and you choose to grant permission. Where possible, Nesh will use such information only for the purpose explained at the time permission is requested.
2.2 Information collected automatically
Device and technical information, such as device model, operating system, app version, browser type, language, IP address, network information, device identifiers, push-notification tokens, and crash or diagnostic data.
Usage information, such as pages and screens viewed, searches, content watched, reading time, clicks, follows, likes, reactions, shares, comments, session duration, feature interactions, referral information, and timestamps.
Approximate location inferred from information such as IP address, language, region, or city settings, which may be used to provide relevant local content.
Precise location only when a feature requires it, your device permission allows it, and you have granted consent where required. You can withdraw location permission through your device settings.
Camera, microphone, photo library, media, and file access only when you use a feature that needs such access, such as creating a post, uploading media, scanning content, recording audio/video, or starting a live stream.
Cookies, local storage, SDKs, pixels, and similar technologies used on our website or app to keep you signed in, remember preferences, maintain security, analyze performance, and support permitted advertising or attribution.
2.3 Information from other sources
Third-party sign-in providers, if you choose to sign in using a supported external account.
Service providers that assist with analytics, cloud hosting, content delivery, security, moderation, customer support, payments, communications, or advertising measurement.
Other users, for example when someone mentions, tags, reports, or shares content involving you.
Publicly available sources where permitted by law, for example to verify public-interest information, prevent impersonation, or investigate abuse.
3. How We Use Information
We use personal data when reasonably necessary to operate Nesh, provide requested features, protect users and the platform, meet legal obligations, and pursue legitimate product and business purposes. Depending on the context and applicable law, our legal basis may include performance of a contract, consent, legitimate interests, and compliance with legal obligations.
Create, authenticate, maintain, recover, and secure accounts.
Publish, host, distribute, rank, recommend, and display posts, news, comments, live streams, profiles, and other content.
Personalize feeds and recommendations using signals such as followed accounts, location or city preferences, language, engagement, and content interests.
Provide messaging, notifications, search, live streaming, creator, community, moderation, and other product features.
Detect, prevent, investigate, and respond to spam, fraud, fake engagement, impersonation, harmful content, account compromise, platform manipulation, and violations of our terms or community standards.
Measure reach, engagement, reliability, performance, and feature effectiveness; diagnose errors; conduct research and analytics; and improve Nesh.
Communicate with you about service updates, security alerts, support requests, policy changes, and, where permitted, product or promotional messages.
Administer advertising, sponsorship, attribution, and campaign measurement where such features are enabled and permitted by law.
Comply with lawful requests, court orders, regulatory requirements, and other legal obligations, and establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
Protect the rights, property, safety, and integrity of Nesh, our users, the public, and our partners.
4. Public Content and Social Features
Nesh is designed for sharing information and participating in public or community conversations. Depending on your settings and the feature you use, information such as your username, profile photo, bio, follower/following relationships, public posts, comments, reactions, and live content may be visible to other users or to the public, including people who are not signed in.
Public content may be copied, shared, embedded, indexed by search engines, captured in screenshots, or redistributed by others. Deleting content from Nesh does not guarantee that copies previously saved or shared by other people will disappear from every location.
5. Location and Hyperlocal Features
Nesh may use your selected city, approximate location, or, when you specifically grant permission, precise location to provide hyperlocal news, nearby content, local alerts, trends, or location-based recommendations. We do not collect precise location in the background unless the product clearly discloses the feature, it is necessary for that feature, and the required device and legal permissions have been obtained.
You can manage location access through your device settings. Disabling location may reduce the relevance or availability of some local features.
6. Live Streaming, Audio, Video, and Messaging
When you create or join a live stream, Nesh may process audio, video, comments, reactions, viewer activity, device and network information, moderation signals, and related metadata to deliver the stream, improve quality, prevent abuse, and enforce our rules.
Messages may include content and metadata such as participants, timestamps, delivery status, and abuse reports. Unless Nesh explicitly states that a particular messaging feature is end-to-end encrypted, you should not assume that Nesh cannot access message content where access is technically necessary for delivery, safety, support, or legal compliance.
7. Content Moderation, Safety, and Integrity
To protect users and the integrity of the platform, Nesh may use automated systems and human review to detect and act on content or behavior that may violate our policies or applicable law. Signals may include content, account activity, reports, device or network indicators, and behavioral patterns.
Moderation actions may include reducing distribution, labeling content, limiting features, removing content, suspending accounts, preserving evidence, or escalating matters when required by law or necessary to address credible safety risks. Where available, users may appeal certain moderation decisions.
8. How We Share Information
We do not sell personal data. We may disclose information in the following circumstances:
With other users and the public when you choose to post publicly, interact socially, participate in live streams, or otherwise use public-facing features.
With service providers and processors that help us operate Nesh, such as cloud infrastructure, content delivery, analytics, communications, security, moderation, customer support, payments, crash reporting, and related technology services. These providers are expected to process information for authorized purposes and subject to appropriate contractual safeguards.
With advertising or measurement partners where advertising features are enabled and applicable law permits such processing. We may use aggregated, de-identified, or limited identifiers for measurement and attribution. We do not sell personal data.
With business partners when you intentionally use an integrated feature or request that information be shared with that partner.
For legal, safety, and enforcement purposes when we reasonably believe disclosure is required by law, necessary to respond to lawful process, or appropriate to protect rights, safety, security, or platform integrity.
In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, sale of assets, insolvency, or similar corporate transaction, subject to applicable legal requirements.
With your consent or at your direction.
9. Advertising and Analytics
Nesh may use first-party analytics and approved third-party tools to understand how the Services are used, identify technical problems, measure content and feature performance, and improve the user experience. If Nesh offers advertising, we may process information to select, deliver, limit, measure, and report on ads, subject to applicable law and your available privacy choices.
Where consent is required for cookies, advertising identifiers, personalized advertising, or similar technologies, Nesh will request that consent before using those technologies for the relevant purpose. You may also have controls in Nesh, your browser, or your mobile operating system.
10. Data Retention
We retain personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including providing the Services, maintaining account history, meeting legal and accounting requirements, preventing fraud and abuse, resolving disputes, enforcing agreements, and protecting platform security.
Retention periods vary depending on the type of information, why it was collected, legal obligations, sensitivity, and technical requirements. When information is no longer needed, we aim to delete it, anonymize it, or isolate it from active use, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law. Backup copies may remain for a limited period before being overwritten.
11. Your Privacy Choices and Rights
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights relating to your personal data. These can include the right to access, correct, update, delete, restrict, object to certain processing, withdraw consent, obtain a copy of your data, or request portability. Some rights may be limited where an exception applies.
Edit profile and account information through available Nesh settings.
Manage notifications, location, camera, microphone, photos, contacts, and other permissions through Nesh or your device settings.
Delete individual content using available content controls.
Request account deletion through [Account Deletion Path / URL / In-App Setting].
Submit privacy requests to contact@neshs.in. We may need to verify your identity before completing certain requests.
Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal.
If you believe your request has not been handled appropriately, you may have the right to contact or lodge a complaint with the relevant data protection authority in your jurisdiction.
12. Account Deletion
You may request deletion of your Nesh account using the available in-app account controls or the account-deletion method published by Nesh. After a valid deletion request, we will delete or de-identify account information within a reasonable period, subject to information we must or are permitted to retain for legal compliance, fraud prevention, security, dispute resolution, financial records, or other legitimate purposes.
Public content you created may be deleted or disassociated from your account depending on the feature and applicable requirements. Content reshared by other users, records of enforcement actions, or information contained in legally required records may remain in limited form.
13. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal data against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, loss, or destruction. Measures may include access controls, encryption in transit, secure infrastructure, monitoring, logging, backups, vulnerability management, and employee or contractor access restrictions where appropriate.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for promptly notifying us if you believe your account has been compromised.
14. International Data Transfers
Nesh and its service providers may process information in countries other than the country where you live. Where required, we use appropriate legal mechanisms and safeguards for cross-border transfers, taking into account applicable data protection requirements.
15. Children and Young Users
Nesh is not intended for children below the minimum age permitted to use the Services in their jurisdiction. Do not use Nesh if you are below that age. Where applicable law requires parental or guardian consent for users below a specified age, Nesh may require such consent or restrict access to certain features.
If you believe a child has provided personal data in violation of applicable law or our age requirements, contact us at contact@neshs.in so we can review the matter and take appropriate action.
16. Third-Party Links and Services
Nesh may contain links, embeds, integrations, or content from third parties. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, not this Privacy Policy. Review the privacy terms of third-party services before providing information to them.
17. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect product changes, legal requirements, security practices, or other operational needs. When we make material changes, we may provide notice through the app, website, email, or another appropriate method.
