If verified, this is not acceptable “play” or animal control. Adults have a responsibility to prevent children from harming animals and to ensure the safety of both the children and the dogs. @DelhiPolice should urgently: • Identify the adults involved and verify the circumstances • Preserve and examine the original video/evidence • Identify any injured animals and arrange veterinary care • Record witness statements • Investigate the conduct under applicable animal-cruelty laws • Take appropriate action if the allegations are substantiated Delhi Police's own Standing Order on animal cruelty specifically addresses complaints involving animals being beaten, poisoned, mutilated or otherwise abused and states that police have powers and a duty to prevent cruelty. Children should be taught compassion, not cruelty.
