My friend Amita and I reached early today, after the idol was unveiled. We couldn't stay for bhog which is normally served during lunch hour, and quite delicious, but we got prasad-one peda and an apple. It was nice to visit the pandal when there were no crowds, only members of the Samiti and possibly a few devotees who stay in the area. The Samiti member we spoke to told us that workers come all the way from Kumaratola in #Kolkata to craft the idols (and their clothes, which are made from thermocol and very delicate). Check out the exquisite work in the close-up shots I took of Durga Maa(Uma/Parvati) and her four children - Laxmi, Saraswati, Ganesha and Kartikeya 😍🙏 The last pic depicts my very first attempt at draping a saree in half-atapoure (traditional Bengali) style. #durgapujaspecial #durgapuja ❤️ #pandal #durgamaa Video
