As water crisis grips Pune … 😰 #agrariancrisis #Maharashtra #Pune #groundwaterdepletion Pune Mirror (@ThePuneMirror) A stark contradiction in water management has gripped Indapur taluka in Pune district, where the Bhima river basin has run completely dry despite the massive Ujani Dam holding nearly 110 TMC (over 90% of its capacity) upstream. The dried-up riverbed around the Neera-Narsinghpur stretch has led to a steep depletion of local groundwater levels, causing nearby wells, borewells, and percolation tanks to run dry. Farmers and local residents have raised an urgent alarm over an impending crisis affecting drinking water, standing crops, and livestock fodder. With the critical Rabi agricultural season underway, agrarian communities have urged the irrigation department and district administration to conduct an urgent review and release water rotations into the Bhima river basin immediately to avert widespread distress. #UjaniDam #BhimaRiver #Indapur #WaterCrisis #MaharashtraFarmers — http://nitter.meowing.monster/ThePuneMirror/status/2109595045171265681#m
