10:30 pm update: Unprecedented rainfall over North #Chennai , with a few places recording extreme rainfall accompanied by violent thunderstorms, is not unusual during an El Niño year. Uneven rainfall distribution is also part of the pattern, with North Chennai receiving 15–20 cm, while South Chennai has received 2-7 cms so far, as rain is expected to continue for a few more hours.
