🏖️ Chennai Outlines Coastal Plan & Road Grid for Expanded 5,904-sqkm CMA ​🗺️ #CMDA is preparing a master plan for the expanded #Chennai Metropolitan Area ( #CMA ) spanning 5,904 sqkm, incorporating over 1,200 villages across #Chengalpattu , #Kancheepuram , #Tiruvallur , and Ranipet districts. ​🌐 #CMDA will appoint an international consultancy to formulate the 20-year roadmap, focusing on integrated coastline development, wider grid roads, flood resilience, and zoning rules. ​🏖️ The strategy will identify new coastal stretches for beach tourism, public amenities, shacks, and recreational zones while protecting sensitive aquifer areas. ​⏱️ Two-Year Timeline & Review: ​6 Months: Immediate review and suggest updates to the existing 1,189-sqkm Third Master Plan. ​2 Years: Complete formulation of the expanded CMA comprehensive master plan, including public consultations before final notification.
