As with all things, he conveniently left out the full picture. India’s forex reserves had actually fallen by about $51 billion from their early-September levels. More worryingly, RBI has already deployed more than half of the $140 billion foreign-currency mobilisation haul. In fact, over the last six months, the RBI has repeatedly stepped in with major measures whenever the exchange rate approached the ₹97/USD mark. When you take lessons in economic policy from the world’s fourth-largest unregistered NGO, this is what you get.
